Chapter 1The Beginning and This Day

1. 1In the tenth month, on the eighteenth day, in the morning, 만두 searched out the Castellan's Signet, and at the end thereof it was written, “The last seal was pressed by another hand”
2. 2And in that day 만두 set a goal, “First Investigation,” and fulfilled it
3. 3And on the morrow, at dawn, 만두 passed the Trial of Endurance
4. 4And in that day 만두 fulfilled the goals that were set: “First Pass”, “First Incident”, “Another Ending”
5. 5만두 took up the incident “The Broken Road” alone and chose the river route; and it is written in the record thereof, “The river route never opened, and the boats stayed tied at the landing”

The story of the living hath no end; this day also a verse is added
